Questions and Answers
Getting Started
No experience is necessary. Our events welcome drivers of all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced track enthusiasts. First-time drivers are placed in our novice group with a dedicated instructor to help you learn safely.
You can drive almost any street-legal vehicle. Sports cars, sedans, trucks, and SUVs are all welcome. Your car must pass a basic tech inspection before going on track, which checks things like brake fluid, tire condition, and that loose items are removed from the interior.
Yes, a helmet is required for all drivers. We recommend a Snell SA2015 or SA2020 rated helmet, but M-rated motorcycle helmets are also accepted. Loaner helmets are available at most events if you don't have one yet.
Registration & Pricing
Event pricing varies by track and duration. Single-day events typically range from $275 to $450. Check our Event Schedule for specific pricing. Track Pass members save 10% on all events.
No membership is required to attend any of our events. The Track Pass is completely optional and designed for drivers who attend multiple events per year and want to save on registration fees.
Cancellations made 14 or more days before an event receive a full refund. Cancellations within 14 days receive event credit that can be applied to a future event. No-shows are not eligible for refunds or credits.
At the Track
Gates typically open at 7:00 AM with a mandatory drivers meeting at 8:00 AM. We recommend arriving by 7:15 AM to allow time for check-in and tech inspection. First-time drivers should arrive by 7:00 AM for orientation.
Essential items include: your helmet, long pants and closed-toe shoes (required), valid driver's license, plenty of water and snacks, sunscreen, a chair for the paddock, and a basic tool kit. We also recommend bringing brake fluid, a tire pressure gauge, and painter's tape for car numbers.
Drivers are divided into groups based on experience level. Novice drivers receive in-car instruction, intermediate drivers have instructors available on request, and advanced drivers run independently. Each group rotates through 20-25 minute sessions throughout the day.
Passengers are allowed for intermediate and advanced drivers only. All passengers must be 18 years or older, sign a waiver, and wear a helmet. Novice drivers may only have their assigned instructor in the car.
Safety & Insurance
Most standard auto insurance policies do not cover track use. We recommend checking with your insurance provider or purchasing track day insurance through our partner Traction. Track day insurance provides coverage specifically for HPDE events.
A helmet meeting Snell SA2015/SA2020 or M2015/M2020 standards is required. Long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn while on track. While not required, we recommend wearing cotton or fire-resistant clothing.
If you experience a mechanical issue on track, safely pull off to the side and wait for track workers to assist you. Our team will help get your car back to the paddock. Minor repairs can often be made on-site, and we have partners who can assist with more significant issues.
Track Pass & Benefits
The Track Pass is an optional annual membership ($150/year) that gives you 10% off all event registrations, a reserved car number, and a free Just Track It t-shirt. It typically pays for itself after just 2-3 events.
Share your unique referral code with friends. When they register for their first event using your code, you earn rewards: 1 referral = 10% off your next event, 5 referrals = 50% off, and 10 referrals = a free event registration.
